Protecting Your Bathroom Remodel Investment

After we get done remodeling your bathroom, the most important thing you should do is protect your investment. There are two things that have the potential to ruin your brand new plumbing fixtures: water quality and water pressure.

ย Water Quality

ย Having good water quality is very important to protect the cleanliness and appearance of new plumbing fixtures. If you have hardness in your water and your bathroom has a nice new custom glass shower door, itโ€™s going to get spots, scale, and grunge buildup over a period of three to five years. If you have well water, you can also have iron, low pH, or other issues that will cause staining to the plumbing fixtures.

ย To protect your investment against poor water quality, the best thing to do is test your homeโ€™s water. You can either go to a local testing facility or contact us to perform in-home testing. Just give us a call and weโ€™ll figure out if you have anything in your water thatโ€™s going to end up staining the plumbing fixtures.

ย Water Pressure

ย You can also protect your bathroom investment by ensuring that the water pressure is optimal. Excessive water pressure can be damaging to the actual plumbing fixtures themselves. They work best at around 50 to 60 psi. There are water systems in our area that can exceed 125 pounds of pressure. Thatโ€™s so much pressure that youโ€™ll end up with dripping faucets or continuously running toilets. The valves and components are just not made to withstand that kind of pressure.

ย If youโ€™ve had dripping faucets in the past or you know thereโ€™s a history of high water pressure in your neighborhood, you can buy a gauge at most hardware stores. You can also call us to come and check your homeโ€™s water pressure. If it exceeds 80 psi, that means that itโ€™s outside of plumbing code. You definitely need to get a pressure reducing valve installed in your home in that case. If the pressure is below 50 psi, that is too low and it has the potential to cause a host of other problems.

ย Remodeling Multiple Bathrooms

ย We have plenty of clients that remodel one bathroom at a time. This could be for many different reasons, such as the total investment or their unique lifestyle situation. Normally we find that whenever we do the second or third bathroom, our clients are much more comfortable. The process goes way more smoothly because they already know what to expect.

ย We try to stay very consistent with our projects. Whenever any issues arise, weโ€™ll learn from our mistakes and do better next time. Weโ€™ll respond in a proactive and positive matter if thereโ€™s anything in a project that the homeowner thinks needs addressing. We also try to use the same process from one bathroom to the next. We have a lot of clients that return to us at a later date to do multiple bathrooms. We may end up doing the kitchen as well.

ย Once someone gets into their new bathroom and they see how nice it is, they want every bathroom to look the same. It absolutely makes a world of difference. If youโ€™re interested in learning more about getting your bathroom remodeled, contact us online or give us a call at (540) 685-0366.
