There are five local places that I enjoy going to eat the most. It’s a matter of opinion, but my family and I love going to eat at these restaurants all the time. Here it goes in no particular order:
Homestead Creamery
In Burnt Chimney, Franklin County is a great place called Homestead Creamery. One of the reasons why I like this place so much is because they use really good ingredients. It’s more of a deli where they serve handmade sandwiches, grilled sandwiches, and wraps. I would encourage anyone to go here for a delicious lunch.
Blackwater Cafe
Blackwater Cafe in Smith Mountain Lake is a nice after-hours spot to enjoy a nice dinner with your spouse. This is definitely a formal place to eat, so you’ll have to dress a little fancier than casual wear. They’re open from Thursday to Sunday and they make some phenomenal entrées.
Bootleggers Cafe
The name might sound weird, but this is a great place. Right across from The Harvester (the entertainment venue) in Rocky Mount, you can always find a wide variety of different foods here. Once you’re finished eating you can head over to The Harvester to hear your favorite band.
Ruth’s Place
This is a little homestyle place that’s actually owned and operated by Ruth. She still does most of the cooking and she has a long history with this type of restaurant. She took a break from restaurant ownership a while ago to work for someone else. She’s since decided to open up a place of her own again. All the customers from previous years have become regulars here.
Ruth’s desserts are to die for. She makes pies, cakes, and other sweets. If you’re looking for a great place to have lunch after church on Sunday, she has some great specials.
Tuscan Tavern
If you like Italian food, Tuscan Tavern at Smith Mountain Lake is a very authentic place. They have a good selection of entrées to choose from. They even serve up a traditional Italian style pizza. This is a great evening spot that you should give a try.
