f you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be? The person that I would probably like to sit down with would be my grandfather on my mother’s side. He owned a trucking business and was in a fatal trucking accident when I was 10 years old. I have some vague memories about him, but nothing very significant. I think it would be interesting to talk with him because he was in a very similar role to the one that I’m in right now when it comes to both business and family.
As I look back upon the memories I do have about him, I recall how he was very active as a businessman in the community. He was a Christian who was very devoted to his family, he was very active in his children’s lives, but he also had some very close relationships outside of his family and business. I can remember him coming over to my house frequently and hanging out with us grandkids.
My grandfather had a lot of different roles to fill in the community, which is somewhat similar to my experience today. I’d like to ask him how he was able to balance all of his roles, because they can all be very demanding at times. I think he would be able to offer me a lot of wisdom about life. As a 10-year-old, it seemed to me like he had everything together. It would be very cool to sit down with him for dinner and have a meaningful conversation. Like many others, his life was too short here on Earth.
