This started with a no hot water service call! Don’t sound to bad huh? However when the technician arrived and diagnosed the heater we found that the wiring to the heating element had shorted against the sheet metal on the side of the water heater. When this happened the wire created an arc andย caused the insulation around it to heat up and melt. The insulation, wiring, and thermostat were all burnt!ย ย Praise God that theย shortย tripped the disconnect above the water heater, cutting the power off to the heater.
