Wisler Plumbing and Air has always been a family business. Me and my three other siblings have all been part of the company in some capacity. Iโve been working here since I was fourteen years old. I got my start by doing electrical and plumbing service work. I remember helping my dad during my free time after school and in the summer. (Fast forward to 2014, when my brother Brian and I took ownership of Wisler Plumbing and Air.) Even though I have a long history here, a lot of what I do stems around giving back to my dad for starting the company.
After I graduated high school, I took night courses at a community college and I started working full time. I got my plumbing license a year later at the age of eighteen, which is the earliest age you can get licensed. I started as a job foreman on new construction plumbing jobs. Within three years, I was supervising two different crews and doing the estimation for large custom homes. Iโd do all the plumbing, gas lines, and estimation along with supervising the plumbing crews. I did this until I was around 22 years old.
During this time, my brother was the General Manager of Wisler Plumbing and Air. He got married and moved away to another state, so someone needed to fill the GM position. This was when our company did new construction plumbing, commercial plumbing, water treatment, and service work. Since we had several divisions, there was clearly a need for general management.
A year later in 2008, we decided to shut down the commercial and new construction plumbing division. We movedย some positions around because there was a need to lower overhead. I became Vice President of Operations for 7 years up until the point that Brian and I bought the company. As you probably already know, Iโm now President and part owner of Wisler Plumbing and Air.
One of the biggest challenges for a business is doing a startup. Itโs hard to run the day-to-day business sometimes, but itโs also extremely rewarding. Looking forward, I think weโre going to continue to do what we do best: service plumbing, and water treatment and filtration. Weโll be good to the areas that have been good to us, and weโll continue to be experts in our field.
Weโve grown steadily over the past six years, and weโre looking toward continuing that trend. Iโm passionate about providing growth opportunities for everyone on our team. Itโs just a matter of continuing to strive for operational excellence and taking on new opportunities in the areas that weโre already great at. Thatโs how we plan to grow our business.
