How James Became President of Wisler Plumbing and Air

My introduction to plumbing began when I was very young. When my father started Wisler Plumbing and Air back in 1986, he ran the company from his home office. Me and my two brothers would sometimes accompany him on plumbing service calls. Thanks to that experience, I became familiar with plumbing at a very young age. My brother and I ended up buying the company from my dad in 2014. In the seven years preceding that purchase, I had been groomed to become the president of the company.

Wisler Plumbing and Air has always been a family business. I can remember being a young boy and seeing my parents doing paperwork in the home office. I was exposed to the business side of the company since early childhood, so all I really know is plumbing. After I graduated from high school, I attended some community college courses. From there, much of my experience has been the school of on-the-job training.

Being President of Wisler Plumbing and Air gives me the opportunity to interact with many different types of personalities. I couldn’t be happier about that, since I’ve always been very intrigued by people. I often gain my inspiration from people who are enthusiastic, positive, and have a plan for their lives. As a leader, I’m also able to guide others to a place in their lives where they are happy. The passion that I have for people is one of the things that drives me. Whether it’s our customers, the employees here at Wisler Plumbing and Air, my friends, or my family, I thoroughly enjoy spending time with others. I want to make people happy and positive with their situation in life.

My son and daughter are also definitely a big part of who I am. My son is two-and-a-half years old and my daughter is a newborn. (They’re growing up very fast.) I just can’t put into words how much joy they bring into my life. My wife and children inspire me and motivate me every single day. I want to provide for them and teach them some of the lessons that I’ve learned over the years. It’s a responsibility that I enthusiastically embrace as a parent.

I think my children will have a very different experience when it comes to introducing them to the plumbing business. The landscape is drastically different now than how it was 20 years ago when it comes to bringing children into the workplace. Of course, my son has seen a little bit of what I do for a living. I have some pictures of him trying to climb under the kitchen sink to be like his dad. If anything, I’ll show my children what I do and let them decide for themselves whether or not it’s something that interests them.

I don’t think I really had much of a choice when it comes to getting into the plumbing business. Even so, it’s something that I enjoy greatly and don’t regret at all. My children are more than welcome to pursue a career path in the plumbing business if that’s what they really want. However, it would be something that I would want them to choose for themselves. There are many other career opportunities out there, and I think they should be free to pursue their passion.

Even though my children might choose a different career, at least they’ll be able to fix things around the house.
