When family game night comes around, Iโd definitely recommend that you ask the entire group what type of game they have most fun playing. It helps to have a selection of multiple games on-hand just in case. Sometimes people prefer to play the game theyโre used to, but thereโs always a new game that can help you learn some interesting things about your friends and family.
I think some relational games like family trivia are fun ways to see how well couples know each other and how much they know about each otherโs past. They are safe most of the time, as long as itโs kept civil. Whenever we can learn more about others, we grow closer and that definitely makes a good family experience.
There are also lots of games based on general trivia and history. Games where you act things out can definitely make learning fun. In our home, weโve been playing a game called Minute to Win It, which is based on a gameshow that ran from 2010 to 2011. Itโs always really challenging and fun when you make things up with props and household items. You might even use something like a ping pong ball, a cup, or a stick as part of your strategy. It can get very competitive and itโs great for big groups that have a lot of energy.
My son is more into learning. He loves Monopoly because heโs infatuated with the money, banking, and system of buying property. Iโd say that you could learn a lot from playing these types of games, too. (Maybe I like business so much because I played a lot of Monopoly growing up.)
