I love a good burger. In my opinion, I know where to go if you’re looking to eat one. The first place is a restaurant called Holly Jo’s in Boones Mill. Holly Jo was a teacher before she decided to open up a restaurant. It’s a local place with a really fun atmosphere. Her family helps run it and she makes some really delicious burgers. You should check it out if you get a chance.
Holly Jo’s is one of the go-to spots whenever people come into town and we go to eat. The last few people that came into town had anything from a macaroni and cheese hamburger to a jalapeño hamburger. I haven’t been brave enough to have the mac and cheese burger yet (it’s a little bit much.)
Another place that I’ve mentioned before is The Bootlegger Cafe in Rocky Mount. They have a lot of different items on the menu, but one specialty they serve that’s very good is their handmade burger. One of the things I like most about Bootlegger is the made-to-order burgers. You can get them made however you like, with all your favorite toppings.
If I’m choosing between regular french fries, sweet potato fries, or tater tots with my burger, I’ll absolutely go with sweet potato fries. (You can find some at Bootlegger’s). I’d say that Bootlegger’s is more of a dinner place and Holly Jo’s would be a lunch place.
